President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi said national youth are the core of the efforts to advance media in the kingdom and to enhance its efficiency locally, regionally and globally.
He added that involvement of Bahraini youth in the media will contribute to preserving landmark national development achievements and cope with the rapid developments in the information and communication industry.
Speaking as he received a number of students from the College of Arts at the University of Bahrain, the IAA President valued highly Bahraini youths’ initiatives and creative ideas regarding ways to develop media work.
He expressed confidence in UoB’s role in preparing highly qualified national competencies that meet the needs of the labour market and serve the kingdom.
Al Rumaihi congratulated the students for their successful competition –"Live", organised under the patronage of UoB President Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, hailing the positive outcomes of the competition in showcasing the students’ skills and talent, and fostering creativity among youth competencies.
He pledged that IAA would sponsor the second edition of the competition, adding that the winner Ahmed Ebrahim Al Balooshi will sign a training contract for one year to work in the IAA.
He said that the new strategy of Bahraini media gives priority to youth cadres in all fields, including radio and TV presentation, preparation, montage and direction.
He invited UoB students to submit their visions on a TV programme on UoB’s role in developing high education in the kingdom, mission and activities.
He explained that the programme would be prepared, produced, montaged and presented by UoB students, in coordination with UoB officials and Bahrain TV specialists.
