Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Education and Acting Minister of Higher Education Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj hailed Sunday the preparations made by the competent authorities for the new academic year 2014-2015.
On the sidelines of a tour to several schools and his inauguration of Saad Al-Abdullah Boys Secondary School in Jahra, Dr. Al-Madaj said he is delighted by high readiness of schools to the start of the new academic year, slated for September 7.
Al-Madaj, who is also Minister of Commerce and Industry, said that his tour coincides with the first day of the return to work of schools' staff after the end of the summer vacation to prepare for reception of students next week.
The Minister called on all teachers to exert their utmost efforts to achieve the best educational outcomes.
Concerning transferring students from private schools to governmental schools and vice versa, Dr. Al-Madaj said that the transfer is allowed till grade ten.
The minister stressed that private schools should abide by the ministry's decisions, and if they have grievances, they should report it to the ministry. Their grievances will be immediately addressed, he promised.
For his part, Jahra Governor Fahad Al-Amir said that students deserve such well-equipped schools, praising efforts of Ministry of Education which provides such capabilities at the school.
Director of Jahra Educational Directorate said that the total number of students here reached 65,405 and the number of teachers at the directorate's educational institutions is 9,943.
She noted that the directorate has 130 educational institutions: 30 pre-school kindergartens, 44 primary schools, 36 elementary schools and 20 secondary schools.
Saad Al-Abdullah School has 22 classes accommodating 750 students.
