Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab discussed on Sunday with Minister of Urban Development and Slum Areas Laila Iskandar a project to upgrade schools in slum areas in cooperation with non-governmental organizations.
Iskandar briefed Mahlab on a report to implement leisure and cultural activities in 100 schools in slum areas nationwide.
The civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations would coordinate with the Ministry of Education to implement summer activities of these schools, she said.
The aim of the project is to lure students to education, engage them in useful educational programs, discover their talents and teach them the field skills and experience as well as increasing their awareness of their society's problems, she added.
