Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, today received at his palace, Liza Anderson, President of the American University in Cairo (AUC), and the delegation accompanying her.
Sheikh Nahyan and Anderson and the varsity exchanged views on different higher education issues as well as contributions of graduates to institutions in the country. About 800 graduates of the AUC work in the UAE. The AUC will hold a dinner party in honour of those graduates in Dubai on Tuesday.
They also discussed the role of universities in spreading culture, art and openness among other peoples and cultures. Sheikh Nahyan said the wise leadership backs the cultural and artistic activities, referring to the Abu Dhabi Arts Festival, which attracts world's top artists.
On her part, Anderson extended an invitation to Sheikh Nahyan to visit the AUC, which enjoys relations with many universities worldwide, adding that the AUC is keen to assess closely the higher education experience in the UAE, especially the experience of the Higher Colleges of Technology, which has graduated thousands of male and female graduates in various occupational and industrial fields.
