The Saudi embassy in London issued today a statement on the killing incident of a Saudi female student as Essex state police called on whoever has information over the assault to come up with it.
In its statement, the embassy said the student was apparently attacked by a knife on Tuesday morning in the city of Colchester in the state of Essex.
It said the state's police is pursuing investigations into the incident and is keeping in custody a suspect, noting that the embassy is cooperating with the police to apprehend the culprit and bring him/her before justice.
The embassy confirmed providing all kinds of support for the family of the victim, noting that Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to United Kingdom, is personally and closely following up the progress of investigations into the incident.
The statement conveyed the ambassador's condolence to the family of the victim, appealing to Allah Almighty to bestow his mercy on her soul.
For its part, the Essex state police called in a press release on whoever obtains information on the attack to contact it.
It also called on the residents of the state, the site of the crime, to check their home gardens and litter boxes in search for weapons or clothes stained with blood that might have been used in the accident.
The police said preliminary investigations indicate that a knife or a sharp tool was used in the killing and pointed that it is difficult to speak about the motives for the crime at this early stage of investigation.
