Egypt's Ambassador to UNESCO Mohamad Sameh Amr asked the Japanese government to provide support to the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) in Cairo in order to be a link between African countries and Tokyo in the educational field.
In a statement issued by Egypt's embassy in Paris, the ambassador said Japan could offer scholarships in the Japanese University in Cairo to African students.
This came during a meeting held between the Japanese education minister and a number of African education ministers.
Africa is considered on the top of UNESCO's priorities, added the statement.
The Egyptian Ambassador to UNESCO is currently in Japan to attend the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, which will kick off on November 10 and will run for three days.
