Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, are pleased to announce that Mrs. Asma Balfaqee, a learner from Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University School of e-Education, has recently been awarded the “Young Emirati Researchers Prize” for 2011 from The National Research Foundation for her proposal on “Teachers' Perceptions of Technology Integration”. Recognized as one of the best learners of HBMeU, Mrs. Balfaqee was supervised by Dr. Rana Tamim in her research work that won the prize. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University said: “The achievement of Mrs. Asma Balfaqee clearly demonstrates the commitment of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University to nurture and produce graduates who excel in their respective fields. Moreover, it demonstrates the strong research background of our learners, which we believe is a crucial component in realizing the strategic goal of the UAE to establish a knowledge-based society. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Balfaqee for her achievement, which has certainly brought great pride to HBMeU and the School of e-Education.” Asma Balfaqee said: “Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University has provided the perfect learning environment that allows learners like me to achieve their full potential and eventually stand out as achievers in the society. I would therefore like to dedicate this award to my professors at Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University and the School of e-Education as they have been very supportive and have been a source of inspiration and encouragement in my continuing pursuit of knowledge and professional excellence.” The Young Emirati Researchers Prize 2011 is one of six awards handed out by the National Research Foundation with the aim to help build research capacity in the country and to reward research excellence. The other awards are Emirati Faculty Research Mobility Award (EFRMA), Young Emirati Postgraduate Research Students Mobility Award (YEPRSMA), Young Emirati Innovators Prize (YEIP), Patent Filing Award (PFA) and University-Industry Research Collaboration Award 2011 (U-IRCA). Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University is the first e-learning institute in the Arab World that was established with the vision to develop a new learning process through the implementation of learning practices characterised by flexibility, quality and diversity to strengthen self-leadership among learners and prepare them socially and academically for a future career through integration in the job market.
