Hamad bin Khalifa University
Doha - QNA

Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), is launching the first bachelor’s degree to be delivered by its College of Science and Engineering.
Applications are now open for prospective students seeking to apply to the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, with classes beginning in fall of 2015.
The program will offer an advanced curriculum delivered by expert faculty, an abundance of research, and inspiring senior design projects. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the design of real-world computer engineering systems and get exposed to real-life challenges through a design component that is integrated into the program, as well as through a final year project.
In line with HBKU’s multidisciplinary focus, the program’s dynamic multidisciplinary approach will draw on the expert knowledge of its partner institutions alongside its own faculty. Students are able to take courses provided by Texas A&M University at Qatar and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, in addition to a comprehensive range of course offerings from HBKU.
This approach will provide students with a well-rounded understanding of computer science and electronic engineering; giving them a wide range of skills, and the knowledge needed for them to explore a number of rewarding careers or further study.
As today’s world becomes more advanced and fast-paced, knowledgeable computer engineers are in high demand, who are smart, creative, and adaptive thinkers to invent the next generation of tablets, smart phones and more. "Computer engineers solve advanced engineering problems in hardware, software, systems, networks and communications spanning not only computer applications but also consumer products, embedded systems and large systems," says Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Dean of HBKU’s College of Science and Engineering.
"Computer engineers make everyday devices and appliances more efficient, faster, cheaper, smarter, and safer. They also develop large systems needed to operate critical infrastructures such as the internet, banking networks, and smart power grids.
"Our new bachelor’s degree program will provide the computer engineers of tomorrow with the unique opportunity to fast track their knowledge thanks to the support of outstanding faculty plus the opportunity to learn from the experts in the field within some of our partner institutions from across Education City."
