Qatar University’s College of Engineering (CENG) recently announced its success in obtaining ABET accreditation status for its Bachelor degree programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. The programs have been respectively accredited by the Engineering Commission and Computing Commission of ABET Inc, the recognized accrediting body of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. ABET approval followed an intensive process over several years of CENG in-house self-study, an internal peer review, and site visits by the ABET review team to evaluate program curricula, faculty, facilities, and institutional support. The ABET review also included discussions with students of the respective programs. Commenting on CENG’s success, QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad said: "We are extremely proud of this achievement and commend the Dean, faculty, staff and students for their hard work and perseverance. This accreditation adds to the College’s previous accreditation successes and is in line with our institutional strategic plan towards accreditation for all QU colleges and programs where applicable. It demonstrates our commitment to quality assurance and best practices for all our academic programs with the aim of providing our students with international-standard quality education".
