Qatar National Bank (QNB) has announced its sponsorship of the inaugural MENA Universities Summit, which will be held in Doha, Qatar on 23 and 24 February 2015 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, Deputy Emir of the State of Qatar.
The event, which is organized by Qatar University in partnership with Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, will be attended by over 200 delegates, including senior university and research leaders from around the world, senior representatives and policy makers from high education, research, innovation, business, and government institutions, and senior global industry leaders , investors, and entrepreneurs.
Education is considered one of the six fields of focus for QNB’s CSR activities. QNB not only provides care and support for the education sector in Qatar, but takes a further step to offer assistance to educational events outside the state as well.
It is worth mentioning that QU is Qatar’s first national university, and is the home of over 16,000 male and female students distributed in 8 colleges, the most recent of which is the College of Medicine. The university offers the widest range of undergraduate programs and 26 graduate programs.
Over the last few years, QU witnessed outstanding research accomplishments, and many of its colleges and academic programs gained accreditation status from prestigious international associations It is notable that the State of Qatar currently hosts some of the world’s finest, most prestigious universities through the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. QNB offers a group of programs and scholarships for Qatari nationals in most of these universities in order to graduate a qualified Qatari workforce.
The global event, dedicated to academic leaders within and beyond the MENA region, will feature consultations on the creation of a new addition in the (THE) rankings portfolio: the MENA University Rankings, a ranking of regional universities in the MENA region taking into consideration the region’s unique challenges. It will also feature sessions on university leadership, international research collaboration, industry-university collaboration and teaching excellence.
