Those passionate about all things animation but are unsure of how to pursue their dream, or are seeking a way to enhance their skills will find that the Cartoon Network Animation Academy's scholarship programme competition may hold the answer. The competition, which was launched on May 22, will run until July 23 and is open to those who are 18 years old and above. Participants must create a picture using elements provided and then upload it to www.twofour54.com/getanimated. The works are then open for public voting and the creator of the winning entry will then be eligible to attend the academy on a full scholarship worth Dh60,000. "The Cartoon Network Animation Academy is launching this artist competition to encourage media professionals, fresh graduates and students in the UAE to pursue creative careers in animation. The competition is open to everyone over the age of 18 and is a unique opportunity for those with a passion for animation to win a scholarship for a year's free tuition," Oliver Acker, Head Lecturer, Cartoon Network Animation Academy, said. The academy welcomed its first batch of students, both expatriate and Emirati, from various backgrounds and experiences when it opened in September 2010. "It's been an amazing experience being a part of the academy. It's truly been a dream come true to be able to take a course like this," said Khalid Al Rayhi, an Emirati who is one of the 13 students at the academy. From / Gulf News
