Abu Dhabi - WAM

To meet the increasing demand for internationally relevant career paths, Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is hosting its 4th Astrolabe career forum on Tuesday, 25th March. As one of the region's most anticipated careers showcase, it is held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth '&' Community Development, who will also grace the opening ceremony. The forum will reflect the evolving needs of employers who now give preference to multi-skilled candidates who can thrive in a multicultural environment. Meanwhile students are also broadening their linguistic, ICT and professional skills to prepare for careers across the Francophone world and beyond. Following the theme: "A roadmap for your future," the Astrolabe brings together leading private and public sector employers who seek to recruit the best student interns or employees from among the alumni -- not only from the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, but from other universities across the UAE. This platform gives students a fascinating "sneak preview" of diverse careers, with almost 50 exhibition stands representing Abu Dhabi's diversified economy through aviation, advisory services, business, defence, energy, environment, estate, finance, hospitality, HR, law, luxury retail and NGOs, as well as the mainstay industries of oil and gas. Prof Eric Fouache, Vice Chancellor of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi expressed his optimism for the upcoming forum, saying: "We are delighted to collaborate hand-in-hand with the business community, as this will ensure that the skills of university graduates are closely aligned with the demands of the job market. Labour trends are constantly evolving, so it is vital that students look at the bigger picture of what the economic landscape will be like several years from now, instead of simply looking at the short term. In today's era of globalisation, we are empowering graduates to work almost anywhere and in any field that matches their aspirations." The wide range of attractions at Astrolabe include round tables featuring respected speakers, who will meet students and alumni face-to-face during career speed networking sessions. Exhibitors and speakers will also give students valuable advice on what employers look for when recruiting. Prof Barthelemy Jobert - Chancellor of Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and President of Paris-Sorbonne University - will deliver a highly anticipated presentation, and he commented: "We are increasingly seeing students pursuing globally relevant careers that give them the professional passport to excel almost anywhere in the world. One key to this is improving one's grasp of international languages, and therefore students who master French can gain a competitive edge in the global job market." Over 2,000 visitors are expected at this year's forum, making it the most successful edition in the event's four-year history.
