A total of 412 of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) or National Defence University of Malaysia graduates received their master's and bachelor's degree scrolls at the university's convocation which ended Friday. Of the number, 298 graduates were from the cadet ranks, 112 civilians graduates while the remaining two attended the master's programme. The scrolls were presented by UPNM Pro-Chancellor Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim. She also conferred an honorary doctorate degree to Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Dr Hashim Mohd Ali(Human Resource of Defence Management) and an honorary Masters degree to Major Gen (Rtd) Abdullah Babu (Master of Science (Strategic Studies). Tunku Intan Safinaz in her speech said that all parties involved should strive to ensure the continuity of the mission, vision and aspirations of UPNM. When the convocation opened Thursday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah was proclaimed as the new Chancellor of the university replacing the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, whom he succeeded as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
