American University of Sharjah (AUS) and the University of California, Davis, yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration between the parties, on a non-exclusive basis, in areas of mutual interest.
Based on the agreement, the two universities will cooperate on collaborative faculty and student research; faculty and student exchanges; and institutional teaching, research and development programs.
Signing the agreement were Dr. Bjorn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, and Dr. Linda P.B. Katehi, Chancellor of the University of California, Davis.
Chancellor Kjerfve welcomed the agreement. "It has always been our goal as a leading institution of higher education and research to engage with other prominent institutions of higher education in order to work together in areas that will prove fruitful not only for ourselves but also for society at large. We look forward to working with the University of California, Davis," he added.
According to Dr. Katehi, "It has been an exciting experience to visit AUS. We have been welcomed by the members of the university community and look forward to collaborating with AUS."
Also present at the signing were senior officials from both AUS and the University of California, Davis.
The University of California, Davis, is a major public research university in the United States and one of the 10 campuses of the University of California system.
