Former Malaysian prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be conferred the honorary doctorate in Political Science from Naresuan University, here, tomorrow. The university, with its main campus in Phitsanulok, said the honorary doctorate was in recognition of Dr Mahathir's long-lasting effort and great contributions to the people of Malaysia and Asean countries. The university's President, Prof Dr Suhjin Jinahyon, will confer the honorary doctorate in a ceremony at a hotel, here, tomorrow. The university is named after King Naresuan and started as the College of Education in 1967 and later became the Phitsanulok Campus of Srinakharinwirot University in 1974 before officially granted a university status on July 29, 1990. The university took a half-page advertisement in the second page of a broadsheet-size English main newspaper today, congratulating Dr Mahathir for the conferment.
