A three-year-old Russian girl was taken to hospital in Bangkok in a state of coma after falling into a swimming pool, an officer of the Russian embassy in Thailand told TASS on Sunday.
The accident took place on March 27. The girl and her parents were vacationing in a resort on the island of Phuket. The girl fell into a deep swimming pool and had stayed under water for several minutes when her parents noticed her absence. She was taken to a local hospital with symptoms of oxygen starvation and heart failure. Afterwards, she was taken to a hospital in Bangkok.
"In Bangkok, the girl was operated - she underwent trepanation of the skull," Vladimir Sosnov, the head of the Russian embassy’s consular department, said. "The baby is in coma. We have referred all necessary documents to the Russian ministry of health to organize her evacuation. Thai medics have no objections."
The girl’s parents have organized a fund raising campaign in social networks to pay for medical services. The medical insurance was not enough for that.
