Police in Oman have taken into custody 35 men and women from health clubs in the Northern Batinah town of Sohar on charges of prostitution. A Royal Oman Police (ROP) spokesman said the accused, all from Asian countries, were arrested for immoral behaviour after a raid conducted on seven health clubs. He said police had been keeping a watch on the clubs after receiving reports that they were indulging in “immoral and unethical activities”. The defendants, the spokesman said, would be referred to the Public Prosecution Department pending their trial. Meanwhile, an Asian man was arrested at the Muscat Airport for attempting to smuggle more than 100 drug capsules, hidden in his stomach, into the country. Police detained him after finding his behaviour suspicious upon his arrival at the airport.
