Up to 600 personalities are expected to take part in the "international women day .. towards empowerment" summit, to be held here for the first time Next Sunday, said the head of the steering committee on Thursday.
Bashayer Al-Awadan said at a news conference that conferees would tackle diverse issues, namely impact of mounting extremism and "Arab spring" events on women status in the Arab countries. Some of the recommendations to be issued at conclusion of the summit would be included in Kuwait's development strategy, she indicated.
The summit aims at making voice of women of Kuwait and other Arab countries heard at the global level, Al-Awadan said, as well as rendering Kuwait "the capital for women in 2015," adding that efforts would be sought to "attain this title officially." A statue will be erected at the conference venue, symbolizing the summit logo and will be adorned with signatures by participants to express sentiments of admiration toward His Highness the Amir, the "Humanitarian Leader."
