Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, has received on separate occasions the Ambassadors of Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Austria.
Dr. Al Qubaisi briefed them on the importance of the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliaments set to be held in Abu Dhabi on 12th and 13th December.
The event will be held under the overall theme of ‘United for Shaping the Future’ and will witness the participation of 50 women speakers of parliament from around the world.
Dr. Al Qubaisi discussed with Jose Eugenio Salarich, Ambassador of Spain; Dominique Minor, Belgian Ambassador to UAE; Frank Mollen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UAE; Merete Juhl, Ambassador of Denmark, and Andreas Liebmann, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the UAE, the ways to enhance co-operation in all domains, especially the parliamentary relations between the FNC and parliaments of these countries.
They also stressed the importance of exchanging parliamentary expertise and experiences, enhance co-ordination and consultations regarding various issues of joint interests between the UAE and respective countries.
She presented invitation letters to the ambassadors to deliver them to the speakers of the parliaments of their respective countries to attend the Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.
"By hosting this summit, we look forward to the dialogue platform that would reflect good reputation of the UAE and its credibility, thanks to the wise leadership and successful foreign policy," the FNC Speaker said.
The event will shed light on the country's pioneering future vision and success of the UAE's parliamentary diplomacy in representing the country through its approach of adopting tolerance, co-existence, peace and values of moderation, she added.
The Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament is a platform to discuss challenges and a number of political, social, environmental, demographical, political, technical and economic developments, Dr. Al Qubaisi said. It also debates the grand challenges as well as opportunities they pose and determine the best course of action, she added.
The event, will be held at Emirates Palace under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, will be organised by the FNC in co-operation with Inter-Parliamentary Union and support of the Crown Prince Court of the Abu Dhabi Court.
