The Arab Parliament on Tuesday urged governments and international organizations to offer all support and to defend Arab women in conflicts zones, especially Palestinian women who are suffering from the Israeli brutal war on Gaza.
"The world has to intervene to stop the crimes against humanity committed by Israel against Palestinian people, particularly women," the Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmad Al-Jarawan said in a speech at the opening of the fifth Arab workshop on women issues.
"There should be international protection for Palestinian women, children and elderly people who are killed, injured or displaced everyday by the Israeli shelling." Al-Jarawan urged that the international community to take a clear and firm stance against the Israeli violations of human rights and women rights in the Palestinian territories.
He also called for collective international work to help find a peaceful solution to the civil conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.
He added that the international organizations should play a role in providing support and protection for women in these countries.
Al-Jarawan underlined the importance of providing Arab girls and women with the required training to help increase their contributions to their societies and to defend their causes.
Representatives of most Arab countries are participating in the two-day workshop which will review women status in the Arab world and the efforts exerted to provide Arab women with their political, economic, educational, social, healthcare, and cultural rights.
