Participants in an Arab conference on women's role in family cohesion and social stability, currently being held in the Algerian capital, called for the establishment of a fund to promote stability and solidarity in families.
"The fund will function under the umbrella of the Arab League and will give financial help to maintain stability in families," Observer of the Society Development Department in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour Maryam Al-Dureibi told KUNA at the end of the conference.
She said the participants recommended to establish a body, supervised by the Arab League, to write up a strategy to promote solidary and cohesion amongst Arab families.
They also urged to empower women financially by setting up mechanisms to enhance their role in running successful businesses and to provide them with training on the latest technologies, she added.
The meeting recommended establishing an Arab database of details related to families, women and children.
Al-Dureibi highlighted Kuwait's "pioneering" experience in the development of family and society, especially the one related to enabling women economically and politically.
The three-day conference was co-organized by the Arab League and the Algerian Ministry of National Solidarity and Family.
