United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced Wednesday the appointment of Jennifer Brush, of the United States, as his Deputy Special Representative for the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
Brush succeeded Robert Sorenson, of the United States too, on September 1, as Ban is grateful for Sorenson's contribution to UNMIK during his tenure.
The newly appointed official has extensive knowledge and experience in international and regional conflict resolution and in Western Balkans affairs.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956, Brush served as the Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Moldova from 2012 to 2014, according to a statement by the UN Department of Public Information.
She has served for more than 25 years in the US Department of State, including postings in the Western Balkans, Poland, Turkey, Marshall Islands and Turkmenistan. Brush has also served as Director of the Office for South Central Europe and Senior Coordinator in the Bureau of Nonproliferation/Office of Proliferation Threat Reduction.
