President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Monday has called on Algerian youth, particularly students, to build hope and self-confidence. "I call on our youth, particularly students to build hope and self-confidence and to look towards the future with optimism," President Bouteflika said in a message to students, read on his behalf by the adviser at the Presidency of the Republic, Mohamed Ali Boughazi, at a meeting held at Hadj-Lakhdar University in Batna (450-km east of Algiers) on the occasion of the National Student Day. "Our main objectives consist in improving teaching methods and ensuring quality training to our elites in a modern and developed university, fully integrated in the economic and social system, open to its regional and international environment and targeting quality and excellence by encouraging innovation and creativity," said the Head of State. He also underlined the need "to preserve Algeria, the precious legacy of our martyrs by the acquisition of knowledge and devotion to work." The President of the Republic said to be aware of "the difficulties faced by some of our youth, particularly the intellectuals in terms of job opportunities." President Bouteflika also stressed in his message the importance attached by the State to the country's southern region. "We intend to meet all the material and human needs so as to ensure equity between all the regions of the country," said the Head of State. The President of the Republic also urged the Algerian students to "be the worthy successors of their elders, the students of 19 May 1956, and "contribute to safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation, its unity and its stability."
