Kuwait's Noor Al-Dousari hit a decent 78 strokes in round one of the Asian Games golf women's individuals to exceed the required rate by six shots at Dream Park Country Club on Thursday.
Al-Dousari proceeds to the following round a day later, with another two left until the event's conclusion on Sunday.
However, in the men's team event, Mazen Al-Ansari, Ali Al-Ansari and Ali Marafi did not achieve a total that aids their cause in the competition, making 86, 92 and 98 strokes respectively.
In a press statement after the events, President of the Kuwait Golf Committee Mazen Al-Ansari stressed that Kuwaiti golfers require further experience to perform well in such competitions.
"Most of the Kuwaiti golfers are under 15," he said, noting that it is the first time for them participating in such a big competition.
He also pointed out to the venue as another factor, saying that South Korea's golf pitches differ to the ones Kuwaiti golfers are used to.
The Kuwaiti gold body seeks to improve the standards of local talent by participating in big championships such as the Asian Games, he added.
