Dutch Queen Maxima has been discharged from hospital after cutting short a state visit to China earlier this week because of a kidney infection, royal officials said Saturday.
"Her Majesty Queen Maxima has been discharged from Bronovo Hospital in The Hague," the government's information service (RVD) said.
"The doctor treating her is of the opinion that her health has improved sufficiently for her to recover at home," it added in a statement.
The 44-year-old queen and her husband, King Willem-Alexander, were on their first-ever state visit to the Asian powerhouse this week to improve trade relations when Maxima fell ill.
They flew back to the Netherlands and she was admitted to Bronovo Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Inaugurated with her husband in 2013, Argentine-born Maxima is known for her dress style as well as her efforts to promote women's interests in business, and is one of the Netherlands' most popular royals.
The royal couple were accompanied by a large Dutch business delegation on their trip and among others met Chinese President Xi Jinping to improve trade and political relations.
The queen's hectic schedule will "calm down somewhat in the coming days" because of her illness, the RVD said.
