The EU allocated 8.2 million euros to help shape a road map for effective measures that would guarantee Arab women empowerment.
A statement by the EU Commission office in Cairo on Thursday said the move came by the end of a two-day meeting attended by officials representing the EU, the Arab League (AL) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
The plan aims to guarantee safer workplaces for women, equal access to resources and participation in laying down economic policies, according to the statement.
Twenty experts were involved in the meeting.
The Gender equality was always one of the pillars on which the EU was built, said Ambassador James Moran, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt.
