The Euro-Med Feminist Initiative IFE-EFIcalls upon EU to immediately annul the enhanced status with the Israeli government.
In a statement issued today, the IFE-EFI also called upon the US administration to immediately stop the unconditional support to the Israeli government and to take the right side of history, the side of justice and freedom for all.
It pointed out that the criminal acts of violence of the Israeli military against Gaza continue unhampered, adding that the Gaza population continues to live in siege, effectively blocked by land and sea in what has been called an "open-air prison".
"The ongoing aggression equals genocide. It goes against Geneva conventions and denies the basic human rights of Palestinians, " it said.
"All this is happening in the acceptance of the world’s political powers that continue to keep silent: silence about the new "collective punishment" imposed on the population of Gaza; silence about the increasing of the numbers of settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem; silence about the inhuman detention in jails of over 10 000 Palestinians; about the deny of the basic human rights of Palestinians who are being arbitrarily arrested, subjected to extrajudicial killings; silence about house demolitions, and constantly restricting people’s mobility. " The EU, it added, continues to have "upgraded" relations of cooperation with the Israeli government, totally disassociated from the respect of human rights and humanitarian law. European and Israeli governments continue to ignore the growing resistance of the civilians of the world. The UN system which we expect to be an international actor against violence and militarization fails in providing protection in Palestine and elsewhere.
The IFE-EFI urged for the recognition of an independent Palestine State on occupied territories of 1967 war with full sovereignty and with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the respect of the right of the Palestinians to return to their home land,as a necessary step and a precondition for transparent and participatory comprehensive peace process in the whole Middle East that will facilitate political changes towards democracy and enhance the respect of human rights of women and men in the whole region.
