Hamas called on the other resistance groups to carry out operations against Israel in retaliation for the death of Riham al Dawabsheh, the mother of a Palestinian toddler who was burned to death in an arson attack by a number of Israeli settlers on their house.
The 27-year-old mother succumbed today to injuries sustained in the attack more than one month ago. She was suffering burns to 90 percent of her body.
This is not an exceptional crime but it is part of a systematic plan carried out by Israeli soldiers and settlers, a plan that aims at killing and intimidating Palestinians to leave their homes, spokesman for Hamas Hossam Badran said.
Riham's younger son, Ali, was killed in the arson attack on their house in Duma on July 31. Her husband, Saad Dawabsheh, succumbed to his injuries on August 8. Ahmed Dawabsheh, the older son, is still receiving treatment at hospital.
Badran said political moves and reliance on international stances would not guarantee any protection to the Palestinians. There is no other way than resistance to fight occupation, he added.
