Hillary Clinton said Friday she will decide early next year about joining the 2016 US presidential race, according to dpa.
The former secretary of state and first lady, who was attending a conference in Mexico City, described the timing of her decision as 'probably after the first of the year,' referring to 2015.
'But I think the most important question is not if you are going to run, or whether you are going to win,' Clinton said. 'It is what your vision for the country is.'
She said would need to believe she has a 'very clear vision' for the country before bidding for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2016.
Clinton lost her party's nomination in 2008 to Barack Obama, who after winning the presidency against Republican Senator John McCain then named her his secretary of state.
Clinton, the wife of former US president Bill Clinton and a former US senator, served four years as the country's chief diplomat.
