Islamabad - Arabstoday

Human rights activist Farzana Bari, who accompanied the team sent to bring the Kohistani girls to the Supreme Court believed to have been killed following a tribal jirga decree, on Thursday said that there was evidence that the girls were alive. Bari added that she had met two of the girls Amina and Shireen, however, they could not be presented before the Supreme Court on Thursday as directed by the court. Five girls were reportedly beheaded on an edict by a cleric of the village after a video appeared in the social media showing the girls applauding two dancing boys. According to Bari, the girls were safe and had no fear of being killed. She said she talked to two girls and learned from them that the three other girls were also alive. Afzal, one of the two dancing boys who had claimed these girls had been killed, expressed surprise over Bari’s endorsement but said he would accept his fault and any punishment for giving out wrong statement about the murder of five girls. The government promised to produce the girls before the court saying helicopters have been sent to their village.
