Israeli prison authorities on Friday released Malak al Khatib, 14, the youngest Palestinian detainee held by Israel, the Palestinian Prisoners Society reported.
Khatib was delivered to her parents at an Israeli military checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarm after she had completed a two-month jail sentence on charges of throwing stones at Israeli troops.
On January 21, Khatib became the youngest of 213 children currently being held in Israeli jails after an Israeli court sentenced her to two months behind bars and fined her 6,000 Israeli shekels.
Over 7,000 Palestinians are currently languishing in prisons throughout Israel, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs.
