Kenyan assault victim Esther Wanjiru Mwikamba succumbed to her head injuries at 8am on Tuesday after battling for her life for 31 days at the intensive care unit of the Rashid Hospital, Gulf News has learnt. Esther, a former salesclerk, was in a coma for one month after being brutally assaulted by a man in a parking lot in Dubai. The case is now in public prosecution. The news came as a shock to the family, especially since Hannah, Esther’s mother, had suffered from a minor stroke on Saturday upon learning that doctors could no longer save her. Hannah’s blood pressure went up again on Tuesday morning and doctors have administered medication to keep it under control. Esther, the eldest and the sole breadwinner of the family, leaves behind three siblings and her parents.
