His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa will patronise a celebration ceremony marking Bahraini Women's Day, co-organised by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the Ministry of State for Defence Affairs and the Interior Ministry on Monday December 1 at the Isa Royal Military College.
The ceremony will feature an integrated military show by the Ministries of Defence and Interior and will honour the first batch of the military women pioneers to commemorate their outstanding achievements and efforts in promoting the military women march in Bahrain.
Bahraini Women's Day is a key national occasion that is observed by local and official institutions in Bahrain. It highlights the important role of Bahraini women in their country’s growth and development on all levels and spheres.
Bahrain Women's Day is celebrated annually on December 1, following an initiative launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, after a number of consultative meetings with Bahrain Women's Union (BWU), women's associations and committees in this regard.
It is worth noting that HRH Princess Sabeeka announced during her meeting with women leaders on January 8, 2014, that the Bahraini Women’s Day 2014 would be devoted to highlighting women’s achievements in the military field.
