Kuwait's participation in the 59th session of the UN's Commission on the Status of Women is a chance to showcase the country's achievements in the field, said Kuwaiti Cabinet official on Sunday.
The event will mainly focus on violence against women all around the world, especially in countries suffering political crises, Chairperson of the Cabinet's Committee on Women's Affairs Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Sheikha Latifa, who's heading the Kuwaiti delegation to New York, noted the importance of presenting applicable solutions to ease the suffering of women in different countries.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson said that the UN had planned to hold the 59th session coninciding with the International Women's Day, which is on March 8.
The official also praised the decision to establish a family court in Kuwait to support the role of women in different aspects of society and protect their rights.
