A mute woman was set on fire by her husband in Asfi, Morocco. The husband beat her up before pouring a flammable liquid over her and setting fire to his wife in an attempt to kill her. The neighbours said the husband left the house after committing the crime, as his wife ran out of the house screaming in pain. The neighbours came to her rescue and manage to put the fire out. She was taken to hospital where she is now receiving treatment. The husband has now been arrested by the police and confessed his crime. The neighbours testified against him as they witnessed repeated abuse against the woman. A close relative to the victim said that she has a hearing and speech disability. The source added that she was a very kind woman and that she had suffered very brutal and violent torture.
