Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union, GWU, and Maria Johnson, Director-General of Little School and Life Learning, discussed ways to increase co-operation in women's empowerment, and the employment of the human, material and technical capacities of both parties to achieve co-operation, as well as expand its scope with the GWU.
Al Suwaidi briefed the guest and her delegation about the Union's efforts to empower Emirati women during their visit to the GWU yesterday.
In her statement after the meeting, which was attended by Rim Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Al Suwaidi said that she had apprised the guest about the main initiatives and achievements of the Emirati women.
The initiatives included the 'Digital Child Initiative' aimed at promoting e-culture, which is in line with the directions of the wise leadership in the country and reflected the keenness of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, to encourage innovation, research and development.
She highlighted that the GWU was keen to implement the UAE's vision to achieve sustainable development, and build a knowledge-based economy that supported innovation to prepare an innovative and productive generation capable of finding innovative solutions in the future.
The New Zealand official praised the progress achieved by women, especially in education, for occupying leading positions and for their effective participation in the development process.
The guest and the accompanying delegation visited Al Jawhara hall in the GWU and expressed their appreciation for the awards won by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak from many local and international authorities, in recognition for her great achievements in humanitarian fields.
