Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, has stressed the need to instil the values of tolerance, co-existence, and respect for multiculturalism in children from a young age.
Sheikha Al Qasimi emphasised the educational programme launched by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to teach morals to school children while also maintaining the nation’s customs and traditions, which are embedded in the principles of respect, co-operation, generosity and sacrifice.
Sheikha Lubna said schools create a great environment to promote good values in children and instil in them the concepts of acceptance, understanding and solidarity which, she said, will help build the present and ensure a positive future for coming generations, reported Wam, the state news agency.
Sheikha Lubna also emphasised the role of parents who have the primary, moral obligation and national responsibility to raise their children to be of good character and with good moral values.
The Minister of Tolerance added that parents should also ensure that their own behaviour is fine-tuned in order to set a good example for their children.
H E Mohamed Ebraheem Al Mahmood, chairman and managing director of Abu Dhabi Media, highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of the media to entrench ethical education that aims to instil good values in the course of nation-building.
He praised the directives of Sheikh Mohammed which seek to perpetuate society’s values and uphold the principles of scientific, cultural and technical progress in the UAE.
Mr Al Mahmood underlined the growing role of educational institutions in preparing young people and in building strong and ambitious characters, and the role of the media, which consolidates cultural wealth.
He stressed that these directives will form the basis of media activity by Abu Dhabi Media in order to derive maximum benefits from the concept of ethical education for all.
