A survey of Canadian women's worst Mother Day gifts included a chainsaw and divorce papers, a charity in Toronto reported Tuesday. The Christian Children's Fund of Canada poll conducted by Ipsos Reid asked 527 women to name the worst or most inappropriate gifts they had received for the mid-May tribute to motherhood. Responses included household appliances, cookbooks, oversized clothing and frying pans, the CCFC release from Toronto said. Mothers also said they were unimpressed with gifts of oven mitts, shoehorns, vegetable shredders and a white noise machine, the report said. The charity's survey showed 89 percent of mothers said they would feel "honored" to receive a gift from a charitable gift catalog, such as the CCFC's. The group provides such things as vegetable seeds, fruit trees, garden tools, medicine, and blankets for distribution in impoverished areas purchased under the Canadian donor mother's name, the charity said.
