Minister of Social Development, Dr. Fatima Mohammad Al-Bilushi, has highlighted the ministry's interest in providing social and health care to ensure a decent living for senior citizens.
The minister said that the ministry has provided a number of services for senior citizens, including accommodation, social and health services, in addition to engaging them in recreational, cultural and social activities, as part of its endeavor to promote community partnership.
the Kingdom of Bahrain leads Arab countries in the field of providing services for senior citizens, when it has issued Edict 1 of 1984 on the formation of national committees in charge of providing care for the elderly, organizing programmes in collaboration with competent authorities to develop the services provided, as well as holding conferences and workshops to educate the public about the issues of the elderly.
