Sharjah Ladies Club, SLC, will be marking National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, NBCAM, in October with a series of activities and offers across the club's various facilities. Also known as Pink October, NBCAM is an international health campaign, which is organised every year by major national charities to raise awareness of the disease and funds for the Pink Caravan.
Of the club's plans for Pink October, Khawla Al Serkal, Director-General of SLC, said, "As a club set up for and driven by women, Pink October is a campaign that is very personal and close to our hearts. Through a series of specials and events, including offers on membership for the club, natural beauty workshops and an exclusive Pink Zumba master class and other activities, we hope to raise funds for and awareness about breast cancer within our member base and beyond. Along with this, we want to utilise the month to take a moment to celebrate the strong, wonderful women of our club and remind them how special they are. Breast cancer is an awful, horrible disease that we are all affected by in some way or another and it is important that we remain vigilant with regards to that struggle, and take a moment to appreciate all we have, while remembering the ladies we have lost."
SLC's plans for Pink October extend across most of the club's facilities, and include health and beauty offers, exercise classes and fun for the kids. At the Orchid Beauty Boutique, makeup specialist Jane Iredale will be hosting a beauty workshop on 27th October, offering makeup tips, trial applications and more.
There will be two Pink October themed fitness events taking place at Fitness 180, the Pink Zumba master class on 25th October from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and the Yoga in Pink class on 28th October starting at 7:00 p.m.
The Sport complex will be hosting Thursday Night Fun for the kids on 15th October from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., while Collage Talent Centre will be offering shirt decorating, jewellery making and dancing as part of the Tiny Talents' Pink Day activities.
Finally, the club will donate part of the proceeds to the Pink Caravan breast cancer awareness initiative
