A Spanish princess asked justice officials to take a look at the plight of a single mother of two children facing eviction from her home in Bilbao. Princess Letizia, wife of Prince Felipe, heir to the Spanish throne, learned of the woman's plight during a visit to a soup kitchen and immediately contacted the justice ministry. The ministry cannot directly intercede in the eviction process but it could influence the woman's legal efforts to stay in her home, or at least obtain low-cost government housing, ThinkSpain said Saturday. The woman, identified in the report only as Nieves, is being kicked out of her apartment by the owners, who are also the parents of her estranged husband. ThinkSpain said the woman left her husband because he was allegedly violent. ThinkSpain said the in-laws want her out of the apartment so their son can move in.
