An Asian woman was arrested at the Muscat International Airport while trying to smuggle 79 cocaine capsules, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP). She was carrying the capsules hidden inside her intestines. The Department of Narcotic Control at the ROP had received a tip off about the woman carrying drugs. “She came to Oman from a Latin American country,” a spokesperson for the ROP said. The accused Asian woman, whose identity was not revealed by the police, was then taken to the ROP hospital where X-ray confirmed that the capsules were in her intestine. Meanwhile, police today arrested four accused in Birka and Amarat areas on the charges of possessing and trafficking in narcotics. “The four, arrested from two different areas, also have connections with an international drug smuggling gang,” the police spokesperson said. “We had information that the four were coordinating with the drug smugglers in an Asian country to smuggle drugs into Oman,” he added. The four suspects accused were in possession of drugs kept in rolls of paper.
