A woman with a history of mental health problems stole a newborn from a maternity ward in Spain but the infant was rescued unharmed, police said. A check of hospital security cameras helped authorities identify the woman and she was apprehended less than an hour after taking the baby, ThinkSpain reported Tuesday. Police said the woman made her way into the maternity ward at the Hospital Donostia in San Sebastian early Tuesday and snatched the newborn while the parents were asleep. She left the hospital in a taxi, telling people that she was the baby's aunt. Health authorities confirmed that the woman spent time in a psychiatric ward. How she was able to leave the hospital with the infant is being investigated.
