New Delhi - Arabstoday

Nearly half of working women in India believe that lack of investment in professional development is the biggest challenge that affects their career, according to a survey titled What Women Want @ Work. A survey of nearly 5,000 women across thirteen countries, carried out by networking firm LinkedIn, found 48 per cent of Indian working women blaming lack of investment for the problems they face in their careers. Absence of role model was stated as the second-biggest challenge to women's career. The report based on the responses of the respondents said, "For professional women in India, lack of investment in professional development (48%) is the No. 1 challenge that affects their career, followed by the absence of a role model (43%)." More than a third (36 per cent) of respondents said judging between work and family life was a major hurdle on the path to success in a career, while 25 per cent of women accused inequality in pay for the same. Nearly 33 per cent of respondents also admitted that faced gender discrimination at work places. However, the survey also found that a whopping 94 per cent of Indian women think they have had a successful career. In comparison, the satisfaction rate among global working women was recorded at just 74 per cent.
