The Cultural Office of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bint Rashid Al Maktoum will host a special art exhibition, highlighting young female Emirati artists, from 26th March to 4th April at the Boxpark on Al Wasl Road, Dubai, organised as part of the Sheikha Manal Art Exchange Programme.
The 10-day exhibition will feature the works of 10 female Emirati arts students who have recently visited Hong Kong as part of an enriching art programme centred on the world-renowned Art Basel Fair.
Commenting on the art exhibition, Mona Bin Kalli, Director of the Cultural Office of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said, "Through this exhibition, we are opening the doors for young Emirati women artists to showcase their creative vision to the world and find meaningful expression of the knowledge and multicultural experience they have gained from being part of the exchange programme.
"The exhibition stems from H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's keenness to ensure that participants of the programme are provided not only the opportunities to develop their artistic aptitude and expertise, but also the platforms they need to exhibit their work and engage the community in a cross-cultural dialogue."
She added, "Art plays a vital role in strengthening cultural values, and our overriding goal for this programme is to foster the next generation of Emirati women artists and empower them with the skills they need to excel in their careers and serve their nation as cultural ambassadors."
During their visit to Hong Kong, the students experienced the acclaimed Art Basel Fair as well as prominent art establishments in the city such as the Osage Gallery, HK Museum of Art, Savannah School of Art and Design (SCAD), Hong Kong Design Institute, HK Museum of History, Asia Art Archive and Sam Tung Uk Museum, where they were able to share experiences and ideas with an international art community.
The Sheikha Manal Art Exchange Programme is a series of educational partnerships with renowned institutions and organisations, whose primary goal is to inculcate and recognise creativity in the realm of art and culture.
It was founded by H.H.Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, as a significant initiative designed to foster genuine understanding, respect and appreciation between diverse cultures.
