Agadir - Mohammed Al Fakeer

Several protests were held in Agadir city, Morroco on Monday, led by women demanding better security in the region. The civil unrest was sparked in the wake of the abduction of two girls from the tourist hotspot and its surrounding suburbs. Their kidnappings came two weeks after another four-year-old girl was taken and killed near the city’s airport. The Moroccan police are yet to find the culprit behind the abductions targeting children in the area. A police source has stated that the issue has been put on high alert by various security departments. Many political parties are attempting to persuade the women to pause their protesting while the authorities carry out their investigations. Parents have become increasingly concerned since the incidents and have taken to accompanying their children to and from school.
