Iraqi student builds plane for pest-control in fields  An Iraqi citizen has managed to build an airplane for $25,000. In an interview with Arabstoday, airplane enthusiast Hatem Kazem Salman Al Tamimi explained where the idea came from: “I had heard that the Iraqi government was planning to use planes for pest-control in fields. This would cost a lot of money – this is why I built my own. You can use it for agricultural purposes, or for security purposes, like controlling borders and transporting officials.”
Tamimi, who is currently a PhD student in economy, said that his plane would be finished at the end of the month: “We will then test it for agricultural means, controlling borders. We will add to it the latest technology, which will bring the cost up to $30,000.”
The PhD student added that his plane could accommodate five passengers, had two engines. The plane will be made Aluminum, sponge, cork and wood.
He explained how he built the plane: “I used some old plane blueprints but I added my own modifications to them - but I doubt my project will be adopted by the Iraqi government.
