Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser El Qady suggested on Thursday that Egypt would host the 2016 World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC).
Addressing the opening session of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), Qady described the event as a "great opportunity" offered by the International Telecommunication Union to Egypt's IT sector.
He stressed that Egypt has made great achievements in the field of communications and information technology in the past decade as part of its efforts to provide high-quality services for citizens.
Qady added that the Global Symposium for Regulators is very important for the international community as it handles a number of urgent files, such as future technology as well as the regulatory and embowering environment.
The 16th session of the Global Symposium for Regulators kicked off here early in the day under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Two sessions will be held today on the internet uses and financial inclusion.
The four-day event will discuss a number of issues, atop of which are challenges facing the IT sector and financial Inclusion to create communities based on the digital economy.
Experts from almost 70 countries are taking part in the event.
