A previously leaked mock-up of what the new Galaxy S4 could look like
Samsung has today announced that the Samsung Galaxy S4 - latest edition to its flagship smartphone range - will be unveiled on March 14.
The company confirmed that its launch
will take place in New York via a live stream the first US unveiling of any major Galaxy device in three years, said Samsung spokeswoman Chenny Kin.
The release of the new Galaxy S4 handset is likely to intensify the fierce competition between Samsung and Apple in the US smartphone market. Last year, Apple surpassed the South Korean tech giant as the top mobile phone vendor during the final quarter.
Early indications expect the eagerly awaited device to come equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capability, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera a clear improvement on its predecessor, the best-selling Galaxy S3. In addition, it is also expected to sport a faster processor, though it's unclear whether it will be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 5 Octa eight-core processor or Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 600 chip.
