The Sudanese Minister of Science and Communications, Issa Bushra Mohammed The Sudanese Minister of Science and Communications, Issa Bushra Mohammed, said that his country signed an agreement with China to build a nuclear reactor for research purposes approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
On the evening of the meeting with 150 Arab nuclear scientists and regional organisations in Khartoum, the Sudanese minister said that the establishment of Atomic Energy plants serves the interests of the sustainable development in his country and succeeds its energy needs.
Bushra also announced the establishment of ten health projects in cooperation and support of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency, including the atomic hospital.
Moreover, he said that his country prepared a law for the peaceful use of the nuclear energy which is currently discussed by the Council of Ministers before being forwarded to the Parliament.
Arab nuclear scientists and regional organisations met again on Sunday to discuss the peaceful uses of atomic energy, particularly the production of electricity, desalination of sea water, improving the quality of agricultural breeds, industrial products, and radiotherapy. The First Vice President of Sudan, Ali Osman Taha gave a speech to the scientists during the opening session of the 11th Arab Scientific Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy.
Bushra added that the scientific conference aimed to keep up to date with the tremendous advances in the use of the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and for the benefit of human life.
